Simon Sweetman Tax Advice for Professionals

I provide practical advice for professionals such as accountants and solicitors working in direct tax. I can also help with serious tax problems for small businesses and individuals.

I have many years experience in the field of tax. I was an Inspector of Taxes for 18 years. I left the Inland Revenue in 1989 to join Chartered Accountants Scrutton Goodchild & Sanderson, later part of Scrutton Bland, where I was successively a senior manager and later a partner. I have been an independent consultant since 2001. I am the chairman of the Tax Policy Unit of the Federation of Small Businesses and have represented the FSB on a number of Inland Revenue committees. I am also a member of the Small Business Working Group of the Chartered Institute of Taxation the Tax Law Review Committee of the Institute for Fiscal Studies and the Administrative Burdens Advisory Board set up by HM Revenue & Customs but independently chaired.

I have written regularly for a number of journals, including Accountancy Age, Taxation, and Tax Journal and I am a regular columnist for accounting web.
