Although Taunton's Medieval and Tudor buildings were destroyed by fire, some of the era's gems remain. Many can be found by following the Taunton Heritage trail, notable by numerous attractive brass plaques set in the pavement. Uncover the link to the numerous historical figures who lived here including Wordsworth, Coleridge and Lord Trenchard, founding father of the RAF. Taunton sits on the fringes of Exmoor National Park, Quantock Forest and The Blackdown Hills. Visitors to these areas can enjoy walking, horse riding and fishing. Just on the outskirts of Taunton on the Wellington road, you can visit Sheppy's Farmhouse Cider centre where traditional farmhouse cider has been brewed in Somerset for over 200 years!
