Homeopathic Medicine Homeopaths Remedies Medical PractitionersWhat is Homeopathy or Homeopathic Medicine?Homeopathy is a gentle, safe and effective medical therapy. It was developed over 200 years ago by Samuel Hahnemann, a German doctor who was disatisfied with the harm caused by the drugs and other treatments that were being used in orthodox medicine at the time. Homeopathy treatments use remedies made from over 3000 plants, minerals and the animal kingdom to provide safe, non-toxic and effective health care. It can increase your vitality and help to keep you healthy so that you are less susceptible to diseases as well as treat illnesses when they arise. How Safe is Homeopathy & Homeopathic Remedies?Homeopathy is a very safe form of alternative medicine, and certainly much safer than conventional or orthodox medicine. All substances we use to make our homeopathic remedies are extensively diluted in a process called 'potentisation'. In fact, remedies have been so diluted by the time you take it, it will have no physical trace of the original substance left.
Homeopathic remedies do not have the adverse reactions, or 'side-effects' of conventional drugs. I came into homeopathy when I discovered that the drug I had been given to treat my gastric ulcers could cause damage to my heart. I did not consider this to be a good idea, and I refused to take them! It was pain that drove me to a homeopath - despite my cynicism at the time - and thus I discovered that there are safer, and more effective alternatives to conventional medicine! Will Homeopathy Work?Homeopathic remedies act upon the body's own energy, which homoeopaths call the vital force, the force or energy responsible for the healthy running of the body and combating disease. Symptoms of illness are an outward expression of an imbalance in the vital force. The remedies act to speed recovery by stimulating the vital force to bounce back and rid the body of disease. Homeopathy works on a principle known as 'the law of similars', or 'like cures like'. This law states that a substance that can cause a disease can also relieve it. For instance, if you peel and chop an onion it can cause your nose and eyes to burn and run with copious amounts of water. Therefore, Alium Cepa, a remedy made from an onion, can be used homeopathically to treat colds and hayfever where the main symptom include runny eyes and nose. Steve Scrutton - Homeopath in North & East Northamptonshire RutlandI became interested in homeopathy when I suffered from gastric ulcers, and refused to take a drug that was known to have adverse effects on the heart. Homeopathy cured these completely, and from that time I have used homeopathy for myself and my family - safe and effective medical treatment - without the danger of drugs. I trained in Homeopathy with the British Institute of Homeopathy, qualifying in 2000 (DIHom-Prct), and I have practiced as a homeopath since that time. I am a registered member of the Alliance of Registered Homeopaths (MARH), and Director and the Registrar of this organisation which represents nearly 800 homeopaths in the UK. Steve also has a clinic at The Lakeside Surgery, Cottingham Road, Corby and at The Oundle Surgery, Glapthorne Road, Oundle in Northamptonshire. These three locations draw patients from the surrounding towns of Burton Latimer, Desborough, Kettering, Oakham, Rothwell, Thrapston, Uppingham and Wellingborough. | |||||||
