The coat of arms is new to Scottish civic heraldry, though it refers to the pre 2996 West Lothian District Council's and so to the pre 1975 West Lothian County Council's. The motto and supporters are new.
Note - the 'lizard (West Lothiana)' in the blazon is presumably meant to be the fossil reptile Westlothiana lizzae.
